How the Gospel Should Transform Our Lives Every Day

The gospel. Something that we tend to only focus on when we are saved and then we move on to studying and focusing on how WE can grow and how WE can benefit from our relationship with Christ.

This is a  backward version of Christianity. It begins to revolve around us instead of God.

We begin to forget the amazing, life changing, power of the Gospel. We forget that Jesus’ love for us is supposed to continue to change us until the day we die.

The gospel should transform how we do life. The way we speak, dress and act. If it is not changing the way we live and view life then we need to be questioning the state of our relationship with Christ.

It confounds me that Christians cannot seem to talk about Christ in everyday conversations. Why does He not come up all of the time? It would seem to me that if he is not discussed, then it would seem that he is not the center of our lives. He is pushed to the side and we are not allowing Him to take control and guide our lives.

Your faith can no longer be your parents faith. You must take your faith and beliefs and own them. They must be yours. You must learn to be disciplined in the things of Christ and be striving to be holy. This should be our focus and goal.

    True and well said. If God doesn’t permeate our minds throughout the day then perhaps we’re not giving the focus that we should (all of it).
    I think you made a good point about about “we”. I think that our relationship with God is looked at as a means to an end. How we can benefit ourselves? Nothing’s wrong with wanting to grow in confidence in Him. I need that myself and so do a ton of people, but I guess we get so caught up in our own growth that we forget we’re servants. Even if we didn’t get any benefit out of it (which we don’t deserve) it still doesn’t change the fact that He deserves our devotion in good and crappy situations. I guess Phil 412-13 comes to mind. Anyway, that was a good reminder and challenge. Thanks!

    Powerful post! I love the last paragraph, it’s very inspiring. “Your faith can no longer be your parents faith” – God doesn’t have grandchildren. 😃 That’s something I thought a lot about in high school. I think it’s definitely very important to keep focused on the Lord and unfortunately, it’s also very easy to get distracted with the “cares of the world”. I know for myself in the busyness of college, there are times when I get distracted and end up putting school first before God. I have to remind myself just how temporary this world is. In the big picture, getting high grades in school is so trifling when compared to importance of faithfully seeking the Lord. I often think of what James 4:14 says, “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” We have such a short time here on earth. There should be an urgency to be doing the Lord’s work for the short time we’re here.

    Amen. I think Christians need to remember we need to preach the Gospel to ourselves daily!!! The more we see Christ’s glory the more we are transformed according to 2 Corinthians 3:18!
