Its easy to put on a mask
to put up a front
to hide our true identity
to pretend we are all put together
to attempt to be perfect
but none of us are
my heart is broken
most people don’t see it
in fact, few do
I wish we could all be real
raw and untainted
I wish anxiety didn’t exist
I wish depression didn’t follow me around
only one person can take the masks off
that person has also
in all probability
been the only one to die for you
take a moment to peek from being the mask
to realize the reckless love he has lavished on you
to take the mask off
to live . . .
in freedom
free from the fake life
free to live original
free to live as who we really are
a new creation
loved by the creator
