walk around the block {a poem}

Take a walk around the block

admire every rock

let the chalk talk

with lines scrawled on top

weeds and dandelions

garnish the cracks

but look up

a blue sky

graced with it’s pleasantries

of effervescent clouds

about to leak

filling up the cracks

simultaneously filling my soul

those satisfying droplets

furrowing my brow

as I close my eyes

face upturned towards the sky

soaking in the soft rain

my guard is dropped

letting the weight fall off

a deep breath relaxes

release the catch in my chest

I feel alive

this is the best

when I am stressed

I take a walk

around the block
